Bringing the BFA Thesis Class of 2023 Community to Life
CHALLENGE
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Fine Arts department needed a print catalog to go along with the annual Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition.
Previous BFA catalogs were made without collaborating with the BFA Thesis Class, but I wanted this years catalog to take a different approach. My goal was to create a catalog that meant as much to the artists as their own work.
PROJECT ROLE

Fine Arts students created and photographed the sculpture used for the cover.
SOLUTION
Using sculpture to create community through shared experiences
I met with graduating BFA Art students to collaborate on a theme and direction for the cover of the catalog. By guiding the discussion, we discovered the classes deep comradery, creativity, and community. To convey the spirit of the class, I asked the BFA Thesis class to create a found object sculpture to represent the common themes found throughout the cohorts work and personal interactions. My priority was to capture the spirit of the artists, and working with them played a key role in that process.
