Desert Companion is a city and regional magazine published by Nevada Public Radio, covering the culture, people, and stories of Las Vegas and Southern Nevada.

SCOPE & ROLE

As the sole graphic designer, I’m responsible for the full visual output of the magazine—layouts, covers, illustrations, and digital extensions. I also led a design refresh focused on refinement rather than reinvention: introducing a flexible 7/14-column grid, adjusting line weights and spacing for more white space, and clarifying type hierarchy. The typography remained unchanged. The goal was a quieter, more elevated reading experience that lets the writing lead.
